If you were to ask this question to 100 people, I believe you would receive 100 different answers. We all have our own distinct idea and impression of what a Mother means to us. The symbolism of Mother is limited by the perceiver’s perception. It is through our own personal experiences that we create our own sacred symbolic meaning of Mother. To try and define the word Mother would be impossible based on social, cultural, and religious reasons reflecting differences and complexities of womanhood. Throughout history symbols and impressions from different cultures have served as powerful implications to help us connect to the meaning of Mother. It is something innate in each of us that defines our connection to our Mother. This is why the experience is so profound for each of us. A loving, caring, giving, compassionate Mother as opposed to a Mother you never knew or was never there for you. This can create quite opposing view points such as honoring or dishonoring of your Mother. The fact you were birthed into this world is a gift whether it was planned or not. We do not always know the whole story of someones struggles or achievements. We are here to evolve and offer our unique gifts in service to others despite where or who we came from. This is the beauty of freewill we were given at birth. We can each make a difference and serve the highest good within ourselves and others. I honor my Mother for giving me the gift of life. She is someone I can depend on during my struggles and achievements who does not judge me, but continues to love me unconditionally. In turn, I have given my own children the same gift. Happy Mother’s Day! “A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” Washington Irving quotes
